Artwork: ‘Hellebores’ Oil painting

I always find painting flowers from life a joy. They never keep still and as they drink and move towards the light source they remind you that they are living creatures responding to their surroundings. There is something engaging about the fragility of the flowers and how their beauty can only be appreciated for a relatively short time. I tried to keep the colours as fresh as possible and did not want the background to interfere with the subject.
